Geddy Lee Announces New Bass Book U.S. Tour Dates
Former Rush frontman Geddy Lee has announced four U.S. appearances in support of his 2018 musical memoir Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass.
He’ll talk about the work, which explores the history of the instrument along with his and other artists’ experiences, at afternoon sessions from Nov. 1 to 4. You can see the list of dates below.
"Initially it was a book for guitar lovers: lovers of vintage instruments," Lee told Classic Rock earlier this year. "There are a lot of great, beautiful books on vintage guitars, but I felt there wasn't one real companion for the electric bass collector or the electric bass lover … so I tried to fill that hole. ... That's how the whole project developed. It got bigger and bigger, and with me being a guy who doesn't think small, I ended up with a big, beautiful book."
Meanwhile, Lee's former bandmate Rush bandmate Alex Lifeson offered one of his paintings for auction in support of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Titled “Minus 20,” the acrylic work measures 10 by 14 inches. “Winter is coming!” he said in a statement. “Cold, dark and desolate. ‘Minus 20’ is a reflection on the current state of cold, dark and desolate fields everywhere.”
“All proceeds will go to support the valuable work of the Kidney Foundation of Canada by allowing us to continue our patient services programs, education and awareness initiatives and life saving research,” the foundation said. “These programs and services enable us to improve the lives of the one in 10 Canadians who are living with or affected by kidney disease.”
The auction price has currently reached almost $5,500, with five days remaining until closure.
