John Mellencamp Releases Second Single, Track List and Cover Art From ‘Sad Clowns and Hillbillies’
John Mellencamp is gearing up for the April 21 release of his new Sad Clowns & Hillbillies LP with the release of the set's second single, "Grandview," as well as the album artwork and complete track listing.
As previously reported, Mellencamp recorded Sad Clowns & Hillbillies with major contributions from country veteran Carlene Carter, who's scheduled to tour with him in support of the album. The pair is booked for a summer tour running from early June through early September, with all tickets coming with a free copy of the new CD.
The new release arrives roughly two and a half years after Mellencamp's last full-length studio effort, Plain Spoken, which peaked at No. 18 in the U.S. in 2014. According to a press release, the new set — which was produced by Mellencamp and earlier preceded by lead-off single "Easy Target" — returns the artist "to the musical eclecticism that is, itself, a reflection of his wide-ranging musings on life."
"Grandview," which you can listen to below, features additional vocal contributions from country star Martina McBride. She's set to perform the single with Mellencamp on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight
