The ice bucket challenge that's been sweeping through your social-media feeds recently may be doing more than raising funds and awareness for ALS research -- it might also help bring peace between two of Jersey's finest.

Bon Jovi frontman Jon Bon Jovi accepted the challenge on Aug. 16, uploading a YouTube video (which you can watch above) that proves he can take a bucket full of ice water just as well as the next guy. And because you're supposed to name three people who you'd like to see follow suit, Bon Jovi paid it forward by calling out Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and drummer Tico Torres -- as well as estranged guitarist Richie Sambora, who's been out of the lineup since abruptly departing during the band's spring 2013 tour.

In recent weeks, Sambora has insisted that his exit was prompted by a desire to spend more time with his family, and described an ultimatum from Bon Jovi that he felt left him with no choice but to walk away. Both sides have been careful to leave the door open for a return, however, and while it's a little bit funny that such a chilly challenge might lead to a thaw, maybe it's just the opening that these two proud steel horse riders have been waiting for.
