Jack White teams with rap legend Q-Tip on his experimental, genre-hopping new song "Hi-De-Ho."

The track opens with waves of feedback and guitar fuzz, leading to some operatic belting in a Middle Eastern scale. From there, Q-Tip adds some reliably nimble verses over a crunchy hip-hop groove and spidery, palm-muted guitar riff. And there are more surprises, including a Spanish-styled acoustic guitar section and some aggressively chopped-up vocal lines.

White also released the song’s comparatively low-key B-side, "Queen of the Bees," which builds a lounge-y atmosphere through muted bass, tambourine, jazzy guitar chords and what sounds like a marimba. "Pass me the bread and the brown sugar cubes, and I'll butter your toast while you take off your shoes," White sings. "The coffee is warm, but it's not too good / Or maybe it's misunderstood, like me."

You can hear both songs below.

A limited-edition tri-color 7" featuring both songs will be available at Third Man Records’ Cass Corridor Detroit location on Saturday, April 9. One day earlier, White will release the first of two new albums, Fear of the Dawn, which features "Hi-De-Ho" and two other previously issued cuts, "Taking Me Back" and the title track; "Queen of the Bees" will appear alongside "Love Is Selfish" on the second record, Entering Heaven Alive, out July 22.

White will promote the LPs on his upcoming Supply Chain Issues Tour, which opens April 8 with the first of two Detroit shows. Those dates kick off a North American run that lasts through mid-June, followed by legs in the U.K. and Europe.
