Eric Clapton will celebrate his 70th birthday with several thousand of his biggest fans.

The guitar legend reaches his seventh-decade milestone on March 30, and has dedicated a pair of upcoming Madison Square Garden concerts to the occasion. Scheduled for May 1 and 2, the shows also mark the 46th anniversary of Clapton opening the venue with Cream on November 2, 1968 — and add even more concerts to the more than 40 performances he's already delivered at the Garden, which is the U.S. venue he's visited most often during his career.

This spring also sees Clapton extending a long relationship with the Royal Albert Hall, where he's played nearly 200 shows — another milestone he'll cross this year when he returns for a seven-show stand between May 14 and 23.

General sales for the Madison Square Garden shows open on March 20, but Chase banking customers will receive advance access on March 16, along with members of Clapton's ECAccess club. Pre-sale purchases, limited to two tickets per buyer, end March 19, and can be accessed via unique codes entered at Ticketmaster. Tickets will be sold only online.

Clapton, who's recently mused about retiring from touring, released the live documentary Planes, Trains and Eric last year, as well as the JJ Cale tribute album The Breeze. Check out his complete Madison Square Garden and Royal Albert Hall concert schedule below.
