Crimson Projekct Announce 2014 Tour Dates
Robert Fripp is all ready to launch a new lineup of his beloved art-rock band King Crimson, and some of the group's illustrious alum will be joining him on the road.
The Crimson Projekct is made up of guitarist Adrian Belew, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Pat Mastelotto, all of whom have done time in King Crimson at various points in the band's 45-year career.
Even though the band is famous for its revolving-door policy, Belew has been a part of King Crimson since 1981, making him the longest-running member besides the ever-constant Fripp. But initially it looked like Belew wouldn't be part of the restructured lineup. Back in September, Belew wrote on his Facebook page that "Robert informed me in an e-mail that he was starting a seven-piece version of the band. He said I would not be right for what the band is doing."
But the Crimson Projekct recently announced on their website that Belew would be part of the band: "Following the recent announcements that a new configuration of King Crimson will tour North America in the fall of 2014, we in the Crimson ProjeKCt felt that it would be helpful to clarify our status and plans, in order to avoid any potential confusion between the two bands."
The updated info includes not only personnel but a month-long tour starting in March, which is limited to Europe right now (you can see the complete tour itinerary below). "We’ve never hidden the fact that we are an entirely separate entity to King Crimson, albeit a closely related one," the announcement clarifies. "We’re all delighted that Robert Fripp is once again in 'go mode' and look forward to what will be a bumper year for Crimson fans. We hope that audiences will enjoy all the upcoming tours. We certainly will!"
