Chickenfoot and Van Halen have released new singles within twenty-four hours of each other. Whether this happened on purpose or by coincidence, it's going to be nearly impossible to avoid comparing the tracks, so let's get right to it, shall we?

Earlier today (Jan. 10), Van Halen officially released 'Tattoo,' the debut song (and video) from 'A Different Kind of Truth,' their first new album with original lead singer David Lee Roth in nearly 30 years. The track is a somewhat surprisingly laid-back riff rocker, but features no shortage of either Eddie Van Halen's guitar wizardry or Roth's unique lyrical madness.

Meanwhile, last night founding and former VH bassist Michael Anthony and second singer Sammy Hagar, along with their Chickenfoot bandmates Chad Smith and Joe Satriani, kept merrily rolling down their own successful path. They issued the moody, textured and rootsy 'Different Devil' as the follow-up to your choice for Best Song of 2011, 'Big Foot.' (We're pretty sure 'Three and a Half Letters' was not an official single.)

So, have Van Halen emerged from their long slumber to prove themselves the dominant force in this poll? Or has Chickenfoot produced better results by keeping busy both in the studio and on the concert stage over the last few years? Listen to both tracks below and vote for your favorite!
