The new commercial for the Blackberry Playbook features the Pretenders' 1979 classic 'Brass in Pocket.' The song appears on the band's self-titled debut album and features band leader Chrissie Hynde firmly declaring that she is special and will not be ignored.

Which, if you think about it, is a pretty smart pair of messages for any advertisement to attach to a new product. Especially in the newly crowded and iPad-dominated market of personal tablet computers, which is what Blackberry's peddling here. The ad's visuals are as direct as Hynde's lyrics, with a user point-of-view shot showing the Playbook's handy size and useful range of features as Chrissie demands your time:

"Got brass in pocket... / Gonna use my, my, my imagination / Cause I'm gonna make you see / There's nobody else here, no one like me / I'm special, so special / I've got to have some of your attention."

The Pretenders are still very much active, and will reportedly head back into the studio soon to follow up their most recent album, 2008's country-tinged 'Break Up the Concrete.' Hynde has also recently started a new band, the sunnier JP, Chrissie and the Fairground Boys, who released their excellent debut album last year.
