AC/DC Fans Can Get a Refund for Axl Rose Show
Refunds are available for AC/DC fans who were expecting to see and hear the band's longtime singer Brian Johnson onstage with them in London but are getting Axl Rose instead.
According to TeamRock, people who bought tickets to the group's June 4 concert at London's Olympic Stadium now have the option to get their money back. Seeticket customers received the following message: "You have the opportunity to request a refund of your ticket. Refunds will be available from now until 5PM on Friday, May 6." (Other ticket agencies may offer refunds too, according to TeamRock.)
Johnson had to pull out of the group's tour, and maybe even the band, following a report last month that said he was in serious danger of total hearing loss if he continued to perform with AC/DC. The band immediately announced plans to resume the shows with a new singer. After several weeks of speculation as to whom the mystery "guest vocalist" would be, AC/DC announced that the Guns N' Roses frontman would be filling in.
Right now, Rose is scheduled to perform the rest of AC/DC's shows in Europe, starting on May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal, and winding up in Aarhus, Denmark, on June 12 – just in time for the singer to join Guns N' Roses' stadium tour on June 23 in Detroit. (You can see AC/DC's full European tour itinerary below.) The GNR shows mark the first time Rose has played with both his old guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan in more than 20 years.
The reunited band has already played a handful of concerts, including one gig at the Coachella music festival in which they were joined by AC/DC guitarist Angus Young. Rose will reportedly reconnect with the Australian rock vets for the remaining dates on their U.S. tour later this year.
But the news isn't necessarily what AC/DC fans want to hear. Some critics – including Roger Daltrey – claim that the lineup without Johnson at the mic is merely a karaoke group. So far, London is the only confirmed city to offer refunds for AC/DC's shows with Rose, though TeamRock reports that the Manchester show on June 9 is also part of the deal.
