As you can tell by their matching titles and artwork, 1997's 'Reload' was originally intended to be half of a double-album version of Metallica's 1996 record 'Load.'

While the band decided to split the material in half and release the albums more than a year apart, it's  clearly all cut from the same cloth -- a messier, more complex and Southern-rock inspired stew than their 1991 self-titled mega-smash.
