In 1998 Metallica paid tribute to the artists that influenced them -- and killed some time between studio albums -- by releasing the double-disc covers album 'Garage Inc.'

Comprised of newly recorded covers on one disc and various previously released B-sides and EP tracks on the other, 'Garage Inc.' finds Metallica largely abandoning their usual meticulous production methods and cutting loose on a series of great songs. Highlights include Thin Lizzy's 'Whiskey in the Jar' as well as the haunting 'Turn the Page,' a cover of a Bob Seger classic that takes the song into a whole other dark dimension.

Have fun deciding, and if we can be so bold as to make an offbeat suggestion, maybe give another listen to 'Mercyful Fate,' an 11 minute epic tribute to the band of the same name.
