Metallica’s James Hetfield, Sammy Hagar to Lead Acoustic Benefit Show
Metallica's James Hetfield and Sammy Hagar headline an all-star set to appear as part of the Acoustic 4 A Cure benefit, to be held on May 15 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Proceeds go to the pediatric cancer program at the University of California at San Francisco's Benioff Children's Hospital.
Hagar will be joined by his Chickenfoot bandmate Joe Satriani. The bill also includes Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Scott Mathews and Pat Monahan of Train. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 21.
"This is sure to be an unforgettable evening," radiation oncologist Jean Nakamura stated, "and we're so very grateful to the Hagar Family Foundation for their incredible support of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital."
The Acoustic 4 A Cure show is part of a busy summer for Hetfield, who just debuted a new Metallica song called 'The Lords of Summer' during a weekend show. They've also committed to appear at the MusiCares MAP Fund awards -- to be held the same week as the Acoustic 4 A Cure concert in Los Angeles. MusicCares is honoring Ozzy Osbourne during that May 12 event.
Meanwhile, Hagar's summer dates include a stop at Rock Fest 2014 with Aerosmith. Armstrong's last project with Green Day was a triple-album release in 2012. More recently, he sat in with Norah Jones on 'Foreverly.' Nancy Wilson just released a live album and DVD with Heart.
