Elvis Costello to Release Massive ‘My Aim Is True’ Box Set This Fall

Nearly 50 years after the release of his debut album, My Aim Is True, Elvis Costello will release a huge anniversary box set edition later this year on Oct. 2.

The full set contains 104 tracks — demos, live performances, outtakes and more — and 52 of them are previously unreleased recordings. There's also a brand new 2026 remaster of the original album taken from the analog tapes, plus rare photographs, handwritten lyrics from his notebooks and new writing from present day Costello.

Produced by Costello and Steve Berkowitz, the collection is made up of five discs: My Aim Is True, The Blue Print, The Stranger in the House, Becoming the Attractions and Covered In Clover. You can view a complete track listing below.

"When first proposed, I thought the whole idea of celebrating a 50th Anniversary of My Aim Is True was preposterous," Costello writes in the collection. "It made my teeth itch. It couldn't just be set up like a venerable object in a glass case."

Ahead of the release date, there are three new versions of "Watching the Detectives" from the box set available for listening: the newly remastered original recording, a tape from Pathway Studios in London and a live rendition from September of 1977.

"Making my first record seemed like the beginning of something that I’d imagined for a
long time, before I had any sense of a potential audience, let alone the expectation and
the assumptions of others about songs written and performed in mere minutes,”
Costello writes. “Nevertheless, I raise a chaste glass to My Aim Is True and all who sail
in her.”
