The Eagles took the stage last night (July 15) at the Classic West festival for their first full-length concert since Glenn Frey suddenly passed in 2016. Frey's son Deacon and country star Vince Gill joined the group as Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh offered a hits-filled evening at Dodger Stadium.

The Eagles' 7/15 Classic West Opening Song: "Seven Bridges Road"

Following the opener, "Seven Bridges Road," Henley, as reported in Forbes, made the evening's first reference to his departed friend. “This one’s for you, Glenn. You’re in our hearts tonight and the music goes on,” before launching into "Take It Easy," sung by Deacon.

The younger Frey got his opportunity to pay tribute to his father before singing "Peaceful Easy Feeling," saying, “This is unbelievable. The last few years have been rough. The only remedy for that is love and I’m feeling it from you tonight. This is my medicine.”

Later in the song, he asked, “Anyone out there miss my dad?” The crowd, naturally, roared, and a picture of Glenn appeared on one of the video screens.

In addition to witnessing Gill and the younger Frey take lead vocals on seven tracks, the packed crowd at Dodger Stadium were treated to a special guest spot by Glenn's longtime friend Bob Seger, who sang "Heartache Tonight." Henley brought Seger onto the stage by calling him "one of the most beloved figures in American rock and roll."

The Eagles + Bob Seger Perform "Heartache Tonight" at Classic West

Without directly declaring that these shows would be a last hurrah for the Eagles, Henley did acknowledge that Classic West and East might be a farewell. “In case this is our last dance, we want to thank all the fans in Southern California,” he said. “It all started here in Los Angeles.”

The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan opened for the Eagles on Saturday; Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire will appear in support of Fleetwood Mac tonight. They'll then return two weeks from now on July 29-30, as Classic East is held at New York's Citi Field.

Gill earlier performed on the Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles all-star country tribute record, and also appeared on Henley's Cass County solo album.
