Black Sabbath Announce Limited Edition Vinyl Box Set
Black Sabbath have announced a nine-LP vinyl set focusing on their first era with Ozzy Osbourne, which will be released as a limited-edition run of 3,000 on Sept. 6.
The Vinyl Collection 1970-78 contains the band’s first eight albums plus a collection of singles in mono format on a ninth disc. Among those are the previously unreleased “Into the Void” (Edited Version) and “Evil Woman (Don’t Play Your Games With Me)," which was never released in North America. Also included is the 7" single “Evil Woman”/“Wicked World," as well as replica tour books from the ‘70s.
Black Sabbath formed in Birmingham, England, in 1968 and released their first eight albums with Osbourne as singer. He was fired in 1979 as a result of his addiction issues, but bounced back with a successful solo career and rejoined in 1997 and then again in 2010. They completed their final album, 13, before ending the band’s career with a farewell show in Birmingham in February 2017.
While Black Sabbath are reported to have split, Osbourne recently said he'd like to play one last show with original drummer Bill Ward, who didn't take part in the final album and shows as a result of a contractual dispute.
