When we found out it was "rock week" on 'X Factor,' we got very scared, thinking we'd have to write 10 stories about various wannabe pop stars savaging classic rock songs.

Luckily, most of the contestants steered clear of sacred ground, opting for lounge-ish renditions of second-tier Meat Loaf titles, or tunes by more modern acts, or in the case of one confused contestant, a straight-up reggae song.

So there we sat, thankfully counting off every dodged bullet in the form of a band we wouldn't have to write about. When the seemingly vapid (let's be fair, we haven't met them) four-headed hydra known as Lakoda Rayne came out and started singing a song by the Outfield (well let's also be honest - the song by the Outfield), it seemed like we had been granted another reprieve.

But, oh no, don't count your 'X Factor' chickens that fast, because medleys are the bread and butter of this pointless show, and sure enough, they switched gears and broke into a super-peppy cheerleader version of 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac, complete with a violently unnecessary vocal breakdown.

Any boxer will tell you, it's the punches you don't see coming that hurt the most.
