When you listen to the studio and live albums Kiss made in the '70s with Ace Frehley, it's easy to understand why some fans will never forgive the group for moving on without their highly distinctive and influential lead guitarist. His self-taught, unconventional and admirably economical style has influenced countless musicians over the years. While his fans have learned to endure long gaps between Ace's albums -- he's only released five since his early-'80s departure from Kiss -- the results are usually well worth the wait. Furthermore, his mid-'90s reunion with his former band helped restore Kiss to arena headliner status, although he left the group again in 2002 to resume his solo career.
