Steven Tyler will return as a judge on 'American Idol' next season, Fox has confirmed. The singer is also working on what he says may be the last Aerosmith album.

Tyler will be back to judge Season 11 of 'American Idol' along with Randy Jackson. The show's other judge, Jennifer Lopez, has not committed to the next season yet. In the meantime, Tyler already misses working on the show.

“It’s been major separation anxiety,” Tyler recently told the Boston Herald at the Boston Common Summer Bash event. "'Idol' was quite intense this year, and I got so much pleasure out of being a part of it … I miss Randy’s humor, Jennifer’s jokes … We’re one big family there, you know?”

The rocker said he's been writing songs for a new Aerosmith disc in Maui, Hawaii, with the band set to return to the studio to start laying down tracks later this month. Tyler told the Boston Herald that the effort, which the band hopes to release in November or December, could be the band's last album.
