Sebastian Bach Saw Steve Perry at Jerry Cantrell’s Birthday Party
It's undeniably silly to assume that all rock stars know each other and spend their downtime hanging out at fabulous parties that the rest of us would never be invited to. On the other hand, that can definitely be easy to imagine — especially when Sebastian Bach shares a picture of himself sharing a moment with Steve Perry at Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell's birthday party.
Even if Bach and Perry didn't enjoy one another's work, they'd presumably have plenty to talk about, given that they both share the experience of forever being tied to their past work with their former bands. But Bach made it clear he's a huge Perry fan, writing that the ex-Journey singer ranks among his "top two favorite singers on the planet" and sharing his memories of the last time they met — "way back in 1991, the day that Nikki Sixx asked me to join Mötley Crüe at their rehearsal in Hollywood, California."
In addition to those two face-to-face meetings, Bach has carried Perry with him on tour — or his music, anyway, as part of a backstage ritual he went on to share in his Instagram post, which you can check out below.
"When I get ready to go on tour, I warm up to Steve Perry's incredible singing and it's helped me expand my range over the years, as you can hear on my last couple of studio records," Bach added. "Steve's voice is so incredible to listen to and such an inspiration to all vocalists worldwide. What a great day + what a great man! Thank you again to Jerry Cantrell, happy birthday, dude!"
Cantrell, meanwhile, probably won't be sharing any photos from his party anytime soon. As he told Noisecreep in 2009, he's weirded out by the idea of social media in general. "I don’t Twitter. I don’t Facebook," said Cantrell. "I think it’s ridiculous that people are that important that people really need to know they are going to the grocery store or what club they are at [laughs]. I think it’s pretty ridiculous and self-indulgent."
