Guns N’ Roses Reunion Put Slash’s Solo Career on Back Burner
The singer in Slash's solo band says Guns N' Roses' successful reunion halted things for the foreseeable future. "It's going so well," Myles Kennedy told Team Rock. "So I don't see it slowing down anytime soon."
Slash released 2014's World on Fire with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators before talk turned to a long-awaited tour with former bandmates Axl Rose and Duff McKagan. The current round of dates reportedly will be extended into 2017.
"There was always a feeling inside that it was eventually gonna happen," Kennedy said. "It's such an incredible band, and it was inevitable. When [Slash] told me, the first thing I said was, 'You guys are gonna make a lot of people extremely happy – myself included.'"
Kennedy was there, in fact, when the Guns N' Roses tour kicked off back in April. "I had the opportunity to see the first night they did in Las Vegas," he added. "It was just so great to see those guys together on stage again. As a rock fan, it's good for rock. It's a well-needed shot in the arm for rock 'n' roll."
He's taken advantage of the down time to complete an album with Alter Bridge. Kennedy is also holding on to a solo project, which is in the mixing stages, until after The Last Hero – Alter Bridge's fifth record – arrives on Oct. 7. World on Fire was Kennedy's second collaboration with Slash, following Apocalyptic Love in 2012.
