The new music release slate for January 2012 is dominated by the Doors. Which makes sense, since they've already declared 2012 to be their year.

It's hard to argue with that bold statement, considering the impressive three-pronged reissue campaign that's been built around their 1971 album 'L.A. Woman.'

In addition to a two-disc expanded edition of the album, featuring alternate takes of songs such as the title track and 'Riders on the Storm,' a documentary film entitled 'Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story of L.A. Woman' will also be available.

In a nice treat for vinyl fans, the bonus tracks from the expanded CD set will be available as a separate release in that format, entitled 'L.A. Woman: The Workshop Sessions.'

Beatles legend Ringo Starr will also release a new album in January, the appropriately titled 'Ringo 2012,' as well as a new live DVD. Other concert sets headed to your televisions soon included an archival release from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a new performance of two classic albums by Styx.
