It looks like the members of Motörhead are getting ready to unveil the band's next album.

Preparations for the new LP, which will be their 22nd studio release, started earlier this year, when the group entered the studio with longtime producer Cameron Webb. They've issued periodic updates from the sessions through their Instagram account, but refrained from sharing specific details regarding a title or timeframe for the release — though that appears to be starting to change. On May 27, the band posted the following image to Twitter:

This was followed by a pair of Instagram photos, both with the XXXX emblazoned on top. The first reads "It's a form of alchemy ... " and the second adds, "Now is it good or is it ... ugly?"

Motörhead's most recent album, Aftershock, arrived in October 2013, peaking at No. 22 in the U.S. — the band's highest-ever chart berth in the States — and earning a Grammy nomination. Although a recent health scare experienced by band frontman Lemmy caused some fans to fear he might be headed for a relapse of the heart problems that forced the group to cancel tour dates in support of Aftershock, he appears to be well and truly on the mend.

If the group truly is preparing to release a new LP titled XXXX (and one-up ZZ Top and Asia's XXX albums in the bargain), they'll have their work cut out for them in terms of scheduling promotion: Motörhead's tour schedule remains typically busy, with dates booked through early December.
