Former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, Pretenders drummer Martin Chambers and guitarist Chris Spedding (Roxy Music, Elton John, Paul McCartney) have formed a new band calling themselves King Mob. The English beat combo are fronted by Stephen W. Parsons (also known as Snips) on vocals, who formerly sang for the cult '70s band Sharks.

King Mob released their first single 'Selene Selene' last month and the debut album 'Force 9' is scheduled for an Oct. 31 release. 'Force 9' will be available as an 11 track CD or 180g Vinyl LP with a bonus three track CD included.

The band hail both Jimmy Page and Duke Ellington as heavy influences, and they plan to take their show on the road. One confirmed gig in the UK has been announced (Nov. 17), and live dates are currently being set up in Japan, Australia and South America.

Given their diverse influences, perhaps this all-star combo should team up with that other superstar combo we've come to know as SuperHeavy, and bring that double header gig to venues all across the USA. You don't even have to pay us for the idea, just leave some good seats for the UCR staff at your first Ohio show, deal?
