AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ takes on the Kinks’ ‘You Really Got Me' in what's sure to be one of the most contested match-ups of Ultimate Classic Rock's March Riff Madness competition.

After a series of shouting matches that might have ended some friendships, we've selected 32 of classic rock's most iconic riffs and paired them off in 16 first-round duels. Over the next five weeks the field will be repeatedly cut in half by your votes, until we theoretically arrive at the most awesome riff in rock history.

This match pits two of history’s most successful sibling-led rock bands against each other. Led by the Young brothers, AC/DC mastered the art of the three-chord riff long before going absolutely global with ‘Back in Black,’ in 1980. But it is the riff from that album's title song that has resonated most strongly.

The Kinks enjoyed a long and distinguished career on the strength of leader Ray Davies’ uniquely perceptive rock operas about British society, but their career began with a few hormonal riff-tastic wonders of their own — none more famous than ‘You Really Got Me.’

So which band of brothers will come away victorious in the end? You can vote once per hour until round one of Ultimate Classic Rock's March Riff Madness closes on Sunday, March 9 at 11:59PM ET. The big winner will be revealed on April 7.
