Ann Wilson, Jeff Beck Guest On New Sly Stone Album
Funk master Sly Stone will release his first album since 1982 on August 16 via Cleopatra Records. A number of classic rock artists will join Stone to celebrate his catalog of well-known hits on the new album, which is called ‘I’m Back! Family & Friends.’
For ‘I’m Back,’ Stone collaborates with a diverse array of artists, including Ray Manzarek of the Doors, Ann Wilson of Heart, guitarists Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice and fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bootsy Collins.
Sly’s influence continues to be felt on today’s music scene. His songs have been sampled by artists ranging from the Beastie Boys to Janet Jackson to Kid Rock. Sly and the Family Stone helped to break down racial barriers as one of the first interracial, mixed-gender bands to fuse rock music, R&B, jazz and soul into one hybrid musical package. Stone was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
We’ve got an exclusive preview of Sly’s track with Bootsy, a funkalicious update of ‘Hot Fun in the Summertime,’ just in time for warm weather!
