Volkswagen Passat Commercial – What’s the Song?

The new Volkswagen Passat commercial features the Emerson, Lake & Palmer song 'Lucky Man,' from their 1970 self-titled debut.

If you are lucky enough to have a lot to protect, this new ad campaign contends that the Volkswagen Passat is the car for you. The star of the ad is taking note of all the good things he has in his life -- oh, what a lucky man he is. As his daily routine of kissing the wife, having breakfast with the kid and pulling out of the driveway on the way to work plays out, the familiar strains of 'Lucky Man' plays.

All this warm and fuzzy stuff is suddenly, and literally, sideswiped as a car crashes into his new Volkswagen Passat! After the impact, the smooth announcer gives us the pitch: "The Passat, a 2013 IIHS Top Safety Pick, designed with other drivers in mind." The 'Lucky Man' motif rides shotgun with the auto's tag line, "Safety starts where luck ends."
