With Van Halen currently criss-crossing the country in support of their new record 'A Different Kind of Truth,' our picture of the week offers a stunning glimpse at 1984, the last time the band was out on the road promoting a new album fronted by David Lee Roth.

Veteran rock photographer Mark Bowman, who brought us some excellent Ronnie Montrose pictures a little while ago -- and who (finally!) launched his own website, MarkBowmanImages.com -- shared one of his vintage photos with us as well his memories from that evening:

"Van Halen sold out a three-night run in Houston, Texas, back in 1984 when they were really storming the globe.  This was fresh off the heels of the legendary US Festival performance in 1983, and just a year away from breaking up the Roth-era for the first time.  The band was throwing down the last great performances of their first configuration and that blended chemistry would remain a distant memory for over 25 years. Listening to their new album made me dig through my archive and I found this... proof that David Lee Roth actually could leap tall buildings with a mighty leap!"
