Metallica played a historic show Saturday night (July 16) in front of 100,000+ fans in Canada at Quebec City's Plains of Abraham, fulfilling a dream of frontman James Hetfield.

The Plains of Abraham is the site of the pivotal Battle of Quebec between the French and the British. The crowd at Metallica's show was so large that the main gate of the venue had to be closed. Many fans had to watch the gig on a big video screen that was set up behind the stage.

The concert, which came at the culmination of the two-week Festival d'ete e Quebec, featured Metallica playing an 18-song set. They kicked it off with 'Creeping Death' and proceeded to play classics like 'One,' 'Master of Puppets,' 'Enter Sandman' before closing out the show with 'Seek & Destroy.'

"When I was a kid, this was my dream," Hetfield told the crowd toward the end of the concert, according to Spinner. A photo gallery of the gig can be seen here.

Meanwhile, Metallica have posted a 22-minute video of footage from their July 6 concert in Milan, Italy. Click here to watch the clip, plus check out the YouTube video of them playing 'Blackened' at that same gig below:
