Lemmy Suffers Health Scare, Plans New Motorhead Album
Like all good rock fans, we like to think of Lemmy as immortal, but the Motorhead frontman is actually turning 68 this year -- and maybe even starting to show signs of his age.
According to news published in the print edition of the latest issue of Classic Rock Magazine, Motorhead guitarist Phil 'Wizzo' Campbell says Lemmy has been outfitted with a defibrillator to correct what's being vaguely referred to as "heart problems." Whether this was a recent development or a chronic issue is unknown, but it didn't stop him from leading the band through the recording of its upcoming 21st album, titled 'Aftershock.'
Tentatively due for release in September, the new LP found the band reuniting with producer Cameron Webb at Maple Sound Studios in Santa Ana, Calif. The sessions yielded 13 new songs; although the band hasn't announced a complete track listing yet, currently known song titles include 'Dust And Glass,' 'Knife,' 'Going To Mexico,' 'Lost Woman Blues,' 'Death Machine' and 'Heartbreaker.'
In the meantime, Motorhead is hitting the road this summer for another round of tour dates that will see them playing throughout Europe between June and August. Check out the complete list below, as posted at the official Motorhead Facebook page:
