Is it really news when Kiss appears on television anymore? With 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' a staple on basic cable since 2006 you wouldn't think so, and yet they still manage to find ways to appear on shows all across the dial. Yesterday (March 30), the Academy of Country Music announced that the rockers will appear on their annual awards show this weekend.

Before we could go to Snopes to see if this was some bizarre internet prank, the band confirmed the news on its website with the following message:

On Sunday, April 1, KISS will present an award at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards! The even (sic) takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be televised on CBS affiliates around the country.

So, Kiss fans, that's 8:00PM Eastern to get possibly your only chance ever to see Kiss mingle with such country hitmakers as Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. Maybe they'll even crash the onstage wedding of Martina McBride and Train frontman Pat Monahan. Let's hope the shock wears off in time for you to catch their tour with Motley Crue, which begins July 20.

In a similarly head-scratching decision, the Academy of Country Music announced via the same press release that rapper LL Cool J will also present at the ceremony. But even he has been known to hang out with Taylor Swift. It should be noted that both Kiss and LL Cool J are from that celebrated hotbed of country music, New York City.
