The second January 2014 Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame first-round challenge pits two famous and very different solo acts -- Joe Walsh and Jackson Browne -- against each other.

Following his departure from the legendary James Gang, Walsh issued his first solo album, 'Barnstorm,' in 1972. It kicked off a highly impressive series of diverse, textured and, yes, sometimes humorous records such as 'The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get,' 'So What' and 'But Seriously, Folks ... ' A few years later he joined another famous band, the Eagles, a move that helped both that band and his solo career reach stratospheric new heights.

Jackson Browne is one of the most revered singer-songwriters of the '70s. He's responsible for writing and performing famous radio anthems such as 'Running on Empty,' 'Doctor My Eyes,' 'Somebody's Baby' and 'The Pretender.' He's also one of rock's most famous activists, protesting nuclear energy, supporting Amnesty International and commenting very decisively on various political issues.

So who moves onto the semi-finals? You can vote once a day between now and Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at 11:59 PM EST. The winner will be announced on Feb. 3. Be sure to read our official rules. Happy holidays, and happy voting!
