Jane’s Addiction have released a special 3D preview clip of the song ‘Irresistible Force,' which will be released in full on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The track will be the leadoff single from ‘The Great Escape Artist,’ the band’s second original album since its 1991 dissolution. (Apparently the previously released 'End to the Lies' was only a "teaser track.")

The song will debut Tuesday, Aug. 2 on Los Angeles radio station KROQ’s ‘Kevin & Bean’ morning show. Fans in New York City (including one of our intrepid reporters) may get a preview of more new songs from the band tonight, when Jane’s perform a private show in Manhattan.

The show will stream live on YouTube tonight. Then, on Aug. 4, it will be presented again, this time with special 3D documentary filmed at the show by the 200 lucky fans who will be armed with special cameras by the band.

In a change from previous reports (see our 5 Things You Need to Know About the New Jane's Addiction Album story), Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol) is now listed as the producer of the new album, with TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek now "on the team" as opposed to manning the boards.  Sitek does play bass on the album, but longtime Jane’s cohort Chris Chaney will tour with the group through 2011.
