Iron Maiden Announce Vinyl Reissues of First Eight Albums
Iron Maiden's early studio efforts are heading back to vinyl -- again.
According to the band's website, the group's first eight albums are being reissued on "heavyweight 180g black vinyl," along with a limited run of "highly collectable" 7-inch singles accompanying the LPs. Promising that they're cut from the "original analogue master tapes," the press release adds, "Released in replica artwork packaging, they are sure to become a must-have item for fans, collectors and anyone who missed out first time round."
As Maiden fans no doubt recall, this isn't the first time these albums have been reissued on vinyl; in 2012, they were given another limited pressing, only that time they were offered on picture disc rather than black vinyl. In addition to the small-batch singles, this new round of reissues also offers a collector's box ("sized to house all eight albums") to entice fans who may not be so eager to own the records all over again.
"The release of these high quality, black vinyl records offers optimum choice to fans who would like to own a piece of Maiden’s authentic '80s vinyl sound, or for those simply wanting to rediscover this much loved, iconic format," adds the press release. "Coupled with the end of the Maiden England World Tour which began in North America in 2012 and finished last month at Knebworth Park’s Sonisphere Festival, this now completes Maiden’s '80s touring and catalog reissues cycle, so the band are free to focus on their dynamic future plans."
