Def Leppard Asks Trixter Guitarist to Sub for Vivian Campbell
Trixter guitarist Steve Brown will fill in for Vivian Campbell while the Def Leppard guitarist undergoes stem-cell treatment in his fight against Hodgkin's lymphoma. Brown's first appearance with Def Leppard will be on Sept. 28 during the pregame show for the first of three NFL International Series outings.
Like Def Leppard, Trixter once toured with Kiss. They shared stages in 1992, as Trixter appeared in support of the follow-up to their gold-selling self-titled debut, which went to No. 28 in the U.S. Trixter are best known for 1990's 'One in a Million.'
Brown will also perform at previously scheduled live dates into November. Campbell, who was with Dio and Whitesnake before joining Def Leppard in 1992, first announced his cancer diagnosis in the summer of 2013. After initially going into remission, Campbell said the Hodgkin's returned earlier this year.
Campbell said in a web posting that he intends to make a return in 2015. "Next year will be very busy for Def Leppard," he said, "with a new album and a world tour -- and frankly, I don't think they would sound as loud without me, so I have no intention of letting the team down."
