Mark your calendars, David Bowie fans: Sept. 25 brings Five Years 1969-1973, a 12-CD/13-LP collection that's being billed as "the first in a series of boxed sets spanning his career."

Promising "all of the material officially released by Bowie during the nascent stage of his career from 1969 to 1973" as well as "tracks that have never before appeared on CD/digitally as well as new remasters," Five Years collects six studio albums, some newly remastered, and an array of rarities, including the 2003 stereo remix of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, previously available only on the DVD portion of the record's 40th anniversary reissue.

While the 13-LP version of the box offers the albums pressed on 180-gram audiophile vinyl, the CD version includes "faithfully reproduced mini-vinyl versions" on gold discs. The Five Years box also bundles in a book (128 pages for the CD box, 84 pages for vinyl) that collects in-depth liner notes, reviews, rare photos, notes from producers Tony Visconti and Ken Scott and a foreword penned by Ray Davies.

Of particular interest to Bowie collectors will be Re:Call 1, a two-disc set of non-album singles, single edits and B-sides, including the original version of 1971's "Holy Holy" and a previously unreleased single version of "All the Madmen." According to the press release announcing Five Years, the Re:Call 1 artwork features an archival image from photographer Mick Rock.

Five Years 1969-1973 is being offered at a list price of $149.98 for the CD version and $249.98 for the vinyl. Check out the complete track listing below.
