Dave Grohl’s ‘Sound City’ Documentary to Hit Theaters on Jan. 31
After premiering at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 18, Dave Grohl's 'Sound City' documentary will be released to theaters in cities across the country. The one-night-only event will take place in over 40 cities on Jan. 31, with additional one-night showings on Feb. 1, Feb. 7, Feb. 15, Feb. 20 and Feb. 22.
A few cities like Portland, Ore. and Columbus, Ohio do get a second night to catch the film, which covers the storied history of the Sound City studios in Los Angeles. The complete list of theaters and cities that will screen the film is available at the Sound City website. Tickets are available now.
As previously reported, Grohl and a supergroup of musicians will play the premiere at Sundance on Jan. 18. The Foo Fighter has convinced artists like John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks to be a part of the Sound City Players Band. In December he hinted that many similar performances would take place at premieres across the country, but today's announcement does not include any details of follow-up performances.
The soundtrack to the film -- which includes many of the Sound City Players, plus Paul McCartney and more -- will be available on March 12.
