This may be a simple tattoo but it sure is effective, a simple lone drum tattooed on the arm of one of rock’s most beloved drummers. Given the theatrical nature of his former band, this tat does seem a bit demure, but sometimes less is more.

Need some more clues? OK, the drummer in question met the rest of his band in New York City after placing an ad in Rolling Stone back in the early '70s -- and the rest is rock 'n' roll history.

He's left this famous band twice - about thirty years ago the first time, and then again two decades later after a brief and highly successful series of reunion tours and albums. But his impact is still strongly felt to this day, including his part in writing and singing lead vocals for one of the band's highest charting songs to date.
