After powering his way through a comeback show Friday night, Bret Michaels will be forced to take several more months off the road as he continues to recover from complicated kidney stone surgery.

Last month, after performing several shows in a row in "intense" pain, the Poison singer was rushed to the hospital directly after a concert. Michaels was diagnosed with a complicated obstructing kidney stone requiring immediate surgery. He received a utereral stent to help him deal with a kidney stone that would not pass.

At the time Michaels - who was also dealing with a lower back compression fracture and his lifelong Type 1 diabetes - was instructed by doctors to take "three to four weeks" off the road to recover.

He returned to the stage last night at The Bowl in Sugar Hill, Georgia, but was ordered immediately after to take an even longer break from the road. That will require Michaels to miss his scheduled Saturday night performance at Tennessee's Mountain Music Festival.

You can read a complete statement explaining the situation, which was posted on Michaels' social media accounts, below:

"Following Bret Michaels’ comeback show at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries. Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%.

Bret’s doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel stated, “We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being. He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels.

Our deepest apologies from Michaels Entertainment Group, as we were truly looking forward to the rest of this year’s shows, including The Mountain Music Festival, private events and all the great shows coming up. We now look ahead and to Bret being able to return healthy, strong and ready to rock."
