On tonight's edition of American Idol, the final six contestants paid tribute to Queen and the iconic vocalist Freddie Mercury. Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor made an appearance on the show to perform a medley of four of the band's biggest classics along with the remaining 'Idol' contestants.

The two remaining classic Queen members took a few minutes to meet with the finalists before the broadcast for a meet-and-greet and to field questions from the singers. After the intro, Taylor and May were accompanied by the potential 'Idols' to open the show with a medley of classic Queen songs 'Fat Bottomed Girls,' 'Another One Bites the Dust,' 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions.'

Much like you've no doubt discovered at your local karaoke bar, the voice and presence of Freddie Mercury simply cannot be replicated. This medley did nothing but remind us of how much we miss the deceased Queen vocalist and how much we wish he was onstage singing these songs. Besides May's guitar solo during 'We Will Rock You,' the performance felt like a rushed and sloppy outing by the 'Idol' finalists, with a heavy underwhelming mood radiating from the television.

The contestants each sang their own Queen song on tonight's broadcast, you can read a full recap of their performances and see all the videos right over here.
