Ozzy Osbourne Issues Statement on Affair, Says He’s in Therapy for Sex Addiction
For a lot of people with addictive personalities, kicking one habit can often just increase the temptation for another. Ozzy Osbourne's struggles with substance abuse are well known, but it was an addiction of a different kind that led to a recent temporary split from his wife, Sharon.
In a statement released through a representative, Osbourne has told People Magazine that the affair responsible for the Osbournes' estrangement was the result of his sex addiction, which compelled him to pursue a purely physical relationship with hairdresser Michell Pugh.
"He is sorry if Ms. Pugh took their sexual relationship out of context," said the rep in the statement. "He would like to apologize to the other women he has been having sexual relationships with. Since his relationship with Ms. Pugh was exposed, Ozzy has gone into intense therapy."
As People's report notes, Pugh does indeed seem to have taken her relationship with Osbourne more seriously than he claims to. Telling the tabloid he gave her the "greatest love" of her life, Pugh admitted she can't help but miss the connection she felt with the "really nice, sweet, funny and cool guy" who pursued her after she colored his hair five years ago.
"What attracted me to him? Chemistry — we just had it. It's that indescribable thing in life, and you can't deny it. And he didn't," said Pugh. "I wake from my dreams, which some nights he's in, and for a minute when I wake I'm peaceful. Then the absence sets in. It's horrible."
