Metallica Enlists Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy for 30th Anniversary Concerts
The band is ready to celebrate their 30th anniversary in style, with a week-long run of San Francisco shows that will find them revisiting some of their best tracks before a hometown crowd.
As guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield explained during a recent interview, "It is a fan celebration. We're constantly wanting to give to the fans what they don't normally get from some other band or some other connection. So these four shows at the Fillmore are something like that."
But if you can't make it out to San Francisco for the shows -- which start tonight (Dec. 5) at the Fillmore -- don't fret, because there's more Metallica on tap. Hetfield says the band is planning to get to work on its next album in early 2012, which should help soothe the burn for faithful fans who were let down by 'Lulu,' this year's critically savaged collaboration with Lou Reed.
