Last week, Jeff Scott Soto released a new solo album called Retribution. We have the exclusive premiere of the video for the title track, which you can view above.

Soto made Retribution in recognition of the 15 years that have passed since his first release on Frontiers Music. He co-wrote nine of the 11 songs on the record with longtime collaborator Howie Simon, who also served as the album's producer, in addition to playing guitar and bass on most tracks. Soto co-wrote "Reign Away" with August Zadra and Steve Sturm and "Song for Joey" with Paulo Mendonca.

Soto first rose to prominence as a teenager in 1984 while singing with Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force. In addition to his solo career, he provided vocals for the fictional band Steel Dragon in the movie Rock Star and has been a part of numerous all-star groups.

From 2006-7, he fronted Journey. He also sings in the West Coast version of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Soto plans to spent much of 2018 with Sons of Apollo, his group with bassist Billy Sheehan, drummer Mike Portnoy guitarist, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and keyboardist Derek Sherinian. Their debut, Psychotic Symphony, was released last month.

"I was beyond excited and ready to make [Retribution] upon reviewing some of the songs Howie had in mind for it,” Soto said. “I knew it would be a great follow up to the killer albums I’ve made thus far with Frontiers.”
