GWAR Singer Dave Brockie’s Death Being Investigated As Drug-Related
According to WTVR, there was evidence found in his house to suggest that his death could have been caused by drug use. A toxicology report will be performed by the state's Medical Examiner on Brockie's body to help determine the cause of death. The procedure can take up to six weeks.
Brockie was found dead in his house on Sunday at the age of 50. He's the second member of GWAR to pass in recent years. Guitarist Cory "Flattus Maximus" Smoot died in November 2011 from heart failure.
GWAR achieved fame in the '90s for their combination of metal and scatalogical lyrics in an elaborately costumed stage presence. Brockie was the last original member of the band, whose origins can be traced to when Brockie formed the band with fellow students at Richmond's Virginia Commonwealth University.
