New Yorker, who also worked with Cheap Trick and Patti Smith, has died at 80.

He sang with them across five different stints from 1979 to 1994, including at Live Aid.

He also sat in with the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney before joining Fleetwood Mac.

He played on a huge Roy Orbison hit, one of Bob Dylan's most famous albums and Dolly Parton's signature song.

He also worked on famous records by the Doobie Brothers, Little Feat and more.

He also played with Donald Fagen, Diana Ross, Paul McCartney, Beck and a myriad of other artists.

She can be heard on the albums 'The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle' and 'Born to Run.'

He also worked with David Bowie before co-founding a studio where key LPs by Gerry Rafferty, Duran Duran and Radiohead were recorded.

His passing was confirmed by Louie Shelton, the producer who helped them define a new genre.

He appeared on both "Space Oddity" and "Madman Across the Water."
