We are pleased to present the exclusive streaming premiere of the full debut album by California Breed, the new power trio featuring Jason Bonham and Deep Purple legend Glenn Hughes.

“It’s proper rock,” Hughes said. ”But at the same time it’s very now. I live in the moment, California Breed is where I live, breathe and where my freak flag flies.”

The self-titled record, which will be released May 20, introduces Andrew Watt, a guitarist from New York, to the world. Even though Hughes and Bonham have worked with some famous guitarists in their day, they were nonetheless impressed by the 23-year old. “This kid is amazing,” Bonham said. “The first time we met I thought he looked like the white Jimi Hendrix. And he plays in the studio likes he’s onstage!”

This extended not just to his playing, but also his songwriting. “Literally, the first day me and Andrew got together we wrote two songs,” Hughes added. “One was ‘Chemical Rain’ and the other was ‘Solo’, both of which are now on the finished album. I was so moved by the music, I said, ‘We’ve got to record this!’ That’s when I called Jason.” Up until recently Bonham and Hughes comprised two-thirds of Black Country Communion, which released three acclaimed studio albums earlier this decade.

Produced by Dave Cobb, 'California Breed' finds the new band in full-on classic power trio mode, mixing big riffs, poweful vocals and sledgehammer drums. It will be available on CD and a deluxe edition that includes a bonus track ('Solo') and a DVD featuring a documentary on the making of the album and videos for 'The Way' and 'Sweet Tea.'

The band expects to announce world tour dates in the near future. You can keep up with all of California Breed's activities at their official website.
