Tony Iommi’s Lymphoma Reportedly Forces Black Sabbath to Pull Out of Coachella
This lineup for this spring's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. wasn't finalized until after Black Sabbath made a stunning announcement earlier this week. Billboard reports that Tony Iommi's lymphoma diagnosis forced the rockers to pull out of the event.
The two-weekend long April festival will now feature Radiohead, the Black Keys, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as headliners. As of now, the other dates on the Black Sabbath 2012 world tour remain unaffected as Iommi works with doctors to determine the best course of treatment. A May 18 show in Russia is the first listed on their website.
As previously reported, the other members of Black Sabbath will be joining Iommi in the UK to continue work on the much-anticipated new album -- the first with the original lineup since 1978's 'Never Say Die.' Billboard reports that the Rick Rubin produced project is still on schedule for a fall 2012 release.
