George Marino, who mastered countless albums in his nearly 40 year career at New York’s famed Sterling Sound studio, has died following a year-long bout with lung cancer.

Marino worked on albums by a wide variety of artists including Metallica, Stevie Wonder, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Journey, Motley Crue and Kansas to name a few. He won three Grammy awards, most recently for Arcade Fire‘s 2011 release,‘The Suburbs,’ which won Album of the Year.
