Without manager Chris Stamp, the Who might never have been the Who! Stamp died Saturday, Nov. 24 at age 70 after a battle with cancer. Along with co-manager Kit Lambert, they guided the Who through the early years of their career. The pair also formed Track Records who would give home to Jimi Hendrix, Arthur Brown, and Golden Earring as well as the Who.

Though he was relieved of his managerial duties in 1975, fences were mended and he was able to reconnect with the band over the last few years. In concert on the night of learning of his passing, Roger Daltrey said of Stamp, “without (him) we wouldn’t be the band we were.”
