Van Morrison Announces Career-Spanning Set of New Reissues

Van Morrison's catalog has come home to Legacy Recordings, where a comprehensive series of digital and physical reissues is set to begin starting Aug. 28.

Morrison has recorded for a number of labels over the years, and as a result, chunks of his catalog have fallen out of print at various points; as Legacy's press release announcing the deal puts it, "most of the Van Morrison catalog has never been available for streaming and many titles have long been unavailable online. ... Much of the catalog has been out-of-print in any format, with some titles being unavailable for as long as 15 years."

The new deal unites all the studio and live recordings Morrison's released from 1971 to the present, as well as all of his recordings with Them, and creates what the label is referring to as "the largest Van Morrison musical archive ever assembled." Legacy's reissues start with 33 Van Morrison titles being made available as digital releases and through all streaming services beginning Aug. 28, as well as The Essential Van Morrison, a 37-track, two-CD career-spanning anthology. Future plans call for Legacy Editions of Saint Dominic's Preview, It's Too Late to Stop Now, Hard Nose the Highway and Enlightenment.
