With rumors circulating that Kid Rock may seek the Republican nomination for Senate from Michigan in 2018, his challenger in the primary could be a fellow musician. Today, we learn that Ted Nugent is leaning in a similar direction.

It began when Nugent read a story about Rock and several other potential Republican candidates looking to unseat Democratic incumbent Debbie Stabeow, who is up for re-election next year. Nugent copied-and-pasted the article to his Facebook page, adding, "If these GOP sonsabitches dont get it right this time I will come charging in as the ultimate WE THE PISSED OFF PEOPLE Mr FixIt Consitutional firebreathing s---kicker candidate from hell!"

Today, he was contacted by the Daily Caller to see how serious he was, to which he responded, “I’m always very interested in making my country and the great state of Michigan great again and there is nothing I wouldn’t do to help in any way I possibly can.”

He added that he would refashion President Donald Trump's campaign slogan as, "Make Michigan, Michigan again" and that his campaign song would be "a very loud 'Stranglehold.'"

Scott Hagerstrom, who worked for Trump's campaign in Michigan, said that Nugent "would be the perfect person to tie together the Trump coalition with the Reagan Democrats and blue collar Democrats down river and in Macomb County.”

West Michigan Politics points out that Nugent would have one obstacle preventing him from running. Although he has a house in his native state, he is a resident of Texas, with a 300-acre ranch near Waco. He would have to re-establish residency in Michigan, which would take 30 days.
